• A Brief History of VDT

In 2019, I was collecting a lot of data on Velocidrone leaderboard statistics, and as a result, I accumulated databases with information on all simulator tracks. By the end of the year, specifically on December 8, 2019, Alexander Teplenichev came up with the idea of making an automatic track selection for a certain time and competing to see who could set the fastest time. After heated discussions involving Dmitry Cherezov, myself (Alexander Kholodnykh), and several other pilots in the chat, we concluded that tracks should be selected daily and came up with criteria for track selection. For about a month, I randomly selected a track from the database every day while simultaneously writing the bot code when possible. By January 15, 2020, a bot appeared that began doing everything automatically and logging all time updates.
For various reasons, in mid-2020, the bot was turned off and didn't work for several months, but by winter it was relaunched and has been working to this day.
The entire history is currently available on this website and in the bot's channel.

• What is VDT and what are the rules?

First of all - VDT stands for Velocidrone Daily Track, which means - daily track in the Velocidrone simulator

Every day at 5:00 PM MSK (Moscow Time), the bot summarizes the previous day's results, selects and publishes a new track. The information is displayed in the bot's channel and automatically forwarded to the simulator chat.

There is a first place rule. The pilot who takes first position in the results at the end of the current VDT must post a video of their fast run in the chat.

Current settings for track selection and pilot accounting:
- Race mode: Three consecutive fast laps (Nemesis or Single Class - Three Lap Race)
- Countries: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Estonia
- Locations: Football Stadium, Dynamic Weather, Empty Scene Day, Coastal, IndoorGoKart, City
- Position time we base on: 5
- Position time range: from 30s to 80s inclusive

• Where to get the track?

The current track is always pinned in the bot's channel or in the simulator chat

• How to start flying VDT?

1. First, we need to buy a Velocidrone license on the Team-Black Sheep website, it's cheaper there and you can apply a discount code if you have one.
2. After purchase, configure the simulator to your liking and make the settings marked in the screenshot as shown:

This enables automatic result uploading and the necessary start countdown mode. Save.

3. Go to the main menu, select Single or Nemesis mode (in the second mode, by default, you can only fly three laps and compete with ghosts of other participants)

4. Select and configure your quad as you wish.
I recommend taking into account that:
- Drone models have different flight characteristics, it's recommended to pay attention to what feels more comfortable and what pilots in the top positions use more often. The most popular models are: CarbiX Zero, Five33 Switchback, Mode 2 Ghost
- The golden mean for speed and maneuverability: propellers 5146 combined with profile 1

5. Next, we get to the track selection and simulation mode settings menu (example for Single).

Here we have:
- Convenient track filter to search for the desired one (don't forget to select All tracks and Any class in the first two)
- boners - replace with the name of the track you're looking for
- Important mode settings on the left, select type Single class - Three Lap Race
-- Automatic arming is more convenient
- Wind settings at the bottom left (we don't need them for VDT, leave them at stock)

After selecting the track and setting the necessary settings, launch the track.

6. On the track, there are start and menu buttons, I think you'll figure out what to do with them

7. Go to drone settings (MENU -> ADVANCED DRONE SETUP)

The important thing here is to configure rates, expo, and setpoint parameters as desired. I've personally never tried adjusting anything else.

8. You can start the race and fly... :)

• The bot doesn't see me. What to do?

1. Check the settings from points 2 and 5 of the answers to the question, "How to start flying VDT?".
2. On the Velocidrone website in the rating for the current track or any other you've already flown, try to find yourself. Maybe you have the wrong country specified or you're not there at all.

- if it turns out you have a different country specified or no country at all, you can change them on the Velocidrone website at https://www.velocidrone.com/profile. You can also change your username there.

* If you're sure that the previous points didn't help you, feel free to ask a question in the simulator chat.

• Can't connect to the site and can't enter the simulator!

Today, due to blocking, this is probably the main problem. You need to use a VPN, read the guide on installing and configuring a personal server.
